Thought we’d take a little time to introduce you to some of the people out there riding our Premium BMX Platform Pedal Straps. They boys at RVA Fixed have been helping us out by pushing the limits on our straps. It’s based on their recommendations that we shored up the old design making them virtually indestructible. Next up is Brandon…

Important info regarding custom orders!
Things are happening in Jacksonville right now folks. Burro is looking for a new place to call home after a solid run at the BBB Complex. A company wants to develop the property which means our arrangement here has been a success. We are currently shopping new locations and have found several positive leads with new opportunities presenting themselves almost daily. We love change around here and couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities!
Also, Chicken & Whiskey are prepping for our first tour around the end of February. That means four out of the five of us will be on the road for about two weeks. That doesn’t mean we stop working though. We’re taking Burro mobile and setting up merch in cities from Florida to Texas and back. We’ll also be visiting some bike shops and boutiques along the way to expand our retail market.
In light of all this, we are putting a hold on custom orders. Any orders placed after February 10, 2010 will not be started until March 1, 2010 plus the standard 2-3 weeks for construction. We will be putting up quite a bit of stock items in the online shop in the meantime. But rest assured we’ll be hitting twice as hard the day we get back.
Love y’all!

An update on pedal straps
Our pedal straps were originally an alternative to cages and permanently mounted straps. The original prototypes worked perfectly for us as commuters so we decided to test their function and durability by sending a few pairs to our friends in Richmond.
The boys loved them and gave us the feedback we needed to improve the design. As trick track riders they put our straps to the ultimate test. See for yourself…

So, we’ve shored them up with the following modifications:
And now, we are introducing a Premium line specifically designed to withstand extra abuse.
They remain hardware-free, putting no unnecessary strain on pedals or cranks and come available in an assortment of colors and patterns to match your style. Here’s an unwrapping video courtesy of RVA Fixed for your viewing pleasure…

But our straps are not exclusive to the trick track community. The foot retention they provide has received accolades from riders of all types who use platform pedals to get where they’re going. Check out the following reviews:
You can view and purchase our re-designed straps in our online shop and will soon be available at Chubby’s Cruisers in Culver City, CA. If your shop is interested in carrying this product, feel free to hit us up.

Photo session with local photographer, Ezra Marcos.
Last week our new friend and local photographer came by the shop to snap some new pics for us. We had too much fun drinking beers with some babes doing lifestyle shots, action shots, and even a few in the dirt (we keep it sleazy). The shots turned out fantastic and you can view a sample collage on Ezra’s blog.

Not only is he a great photographer, he also has a big heart and will be in Five Points on Sunday raising money for the people of Haiti co-sponsored by Burro and Anomaly. From his blog:
So this is the deal. From 10am until it gets too dark, on Sunday, January the 24th, I’m booking 15 minute photo sessions in front of Anomaly (1021 Park Street - 5 Points). No appointment needed…I’m taking walk-ins! All you have to do is write a check to the Yele Foundation or UNICEF (any amount…just give!)...I’ll have stamped envelopes already addressed to Yele or UNICEF…we’ll put the check in the envelopes…and then give you the envelope…yes, we’re using the honor system…you’ll be responsible for mailing the check! During that process, we’ll get your contact info so that we can deliver your images!
Whether you’re taking the plunge and need a wedding photographer, or just need some sick pics, Ezra Marcos is your man!

closed for the holidays
It’s about that time. Christmas is only days away and the deadline for gift orders has past. We’re taking the week off to finish up some projects and spend time with our families. But don’t worry, we’ll be back in Oh Ten with exciting new stuff.
Once again, we’d like to thank all the artists who participated in the art show. If you haven’t seen the bags yet, you need to check them out. They are all one-of-a-kind so if you like it, you better grab it because once they’re gone, they’re gone.
To those of you who made Burro Bags your gift choice this year, we thank you and welcome your feedback and comments. You can also send cookies, if you want.
