How’s it going Dennis?
Yo!

Hows the Texas summer treating you?
Summer time slacking off, riding bikes and getting toasted here in Austin, over 103 degrees. Still going to school. Swimming in every spot I can find in Austin, getting out of this killer heat, shady parking spaces and breakfast tacos and burgers.

Whats your latest set up you’ve been riding?
Thats a good question….
Velocity Pyscho’s, Still running the Burro Chronics looking fresh, Volume Thrasher V1 with pulled chainstays to fit 26X2.15 tires. Volume and Resist parts basically.

What got you started on fixed? Do you have any riding history prior to riding fixed?
My dad has been into bikes since he was a kid. He heard about everyone getting into fixed gears and let me ride the bike. Started doing backward circles with my dad and just got really bored Summer of 09 and learned how to keo spin and block spin and then went out with Leo and started to take pictures and thats how it all started. Then I got picked up by Fast Folks, rode more, sent pictures to Volume, got picked up by Burro at NAHBS and just recently got on Velocity.

I heard there’s a trick get-together starting soon. Tell us about that.
Every weekend we have a group of riders go out and shred the streets. Basically trying to get people to talk and throw down. There’s a lot of riders out there that don’t know there are other riders in Austin. It’ll pull us together and pump us up for more action-packed fixed tricks.

Orlando Premiere of Big Money Hustlaz / Jeremy Adams Benefit Recap

July 25 2011 posted by Jack

Burro-sponsored event recap

As you may be aware, the Burro/Zombie family lost a dear member to a motorcycle accident last month. Jeremy was a wild kid who rode and partied hard and was loved by all. Ace Metric in Orlando recently hosted and event premiering the new Big Money Hustlaz film from the Loose Nuts Cycles crew that doubled as a benefit to raise money for Jeremy’s family. Looks like event was a huge success and a lot of fun was had. Here’s Ronnie’s video:

Also, Jeremy’s brother stopped by the shop on Friday and dropped off some of his old Burro and Chicken & Whiskey t-shirts. We plan on framing them and hanging them here at the Letter Shop and at Burro Bar. Thanks to everyone who came out and partied for our departed brother. See you on the other side JJ!

The Burro Blog Welcomes LAF Photography

July 12 2011 posted by Leo Furmansky

Austin Photographer Leo Furmansky

Jack asked me to introduce myself on the Burro Blog, He gave me the honor to blog about what goes on in the Fixed gear scene in Austin. There was no way i was turning down this offer.

I’m a photographer, and I ride bikes (mainly FGFS bikes). I’m 22 years old and reside in Austin, Texas. I mainly shoot anything that’s in front of me, particularly the bike community. I honestly don’t know what to say about myself, I guess there’s one thing I can say and that is, I look forward to Austin growing in the Fixed world. I see California and New York blow up on FGFS and there’s only a handful of us here. Its not a shitty situation because since theres so few of us, we all get along really well and have a great time riding the streets of Austin. At the same time, I’d like to contribute to showing people that there is shredders here and if there are any other riders in Texas that don’t know about the FGFS scene, it’ll give them an opportunity to come visit and meet others. I think blogging about the Austin scene will really pump more and more people up to ride fixed or FGFS in Austin.

I met the Burro crew during NAHBS. I ran into them while volunteering for the NAHBS media department shooting photos for different companies. I remembered some friends had rocked Burro straps and rode FGFS. I was always stoked on the product and the bags they made blew me away with the designs. I litterly hung out with Jack, John and the rest of the guys most of the time. I also hooked them up with a new team rider, Dennis Hicks. I had a feeling they would like him. After the NAHBS day work, we all headed to the comp and Dennis took 1st and on top of that Joined the Burro team. This is when me and the Burro guys collaborated on some ideas and built a good friendship. So far the guys are awesome. Got up good shots for the website and more to come! Look out for a Dennis Hicks interview and some more what goes on in Austin.

Sorry for my shitty grammar…

Photo: Dennis asked me if i wanted to take a picture with my bike, I wasn’t so big on the idea a lot of people do that, I wanted a picture of me for who i am as a photographer. I love my bike don’t get me wrong, i just wanted some color and a smile.

BURRO BURRO Teaser

July 07 2011 posted by Jack

video teaser

So y’all know we got this bar right? Well if you know us at all then you know we like to have fun with whatever it is we’re doing. Music is a huge part of what Burro Bar is about. But we don’t want it to be like every other bar or music venue in town. We want to keep it fresh, fun and pushing the envelope to make Jacksonville a better place to live and create in. To stimulate that a little bit we’ve teamed up with Director L Gustavo Cooper and Fat Screaming Baby Productions to create BURRO BURRO, a new video project with the combined objectives of highlighting local talent and attracting music-makers to Jacksonville.

A few weeks ago we filmed Jacksonville’s very own DarkHorse Saloon at the bar for the first installment of the project. The episode is in post-production at the moment but here’s the intro/teaser to hold you off. Get stoked!
